Alfred Lord Tennyson Alfred Lord Tennyson (we'll call him Al for short) was born august 6th 1809 in Somersby, Lincolnshire; the fourth of twelve children. Al was raised with a goal to excel in school, but not his. His parents ushered him to exceed in his studies and sent to a nearby public school. The four years he spent there became his most miserable years yet, as he spent the school days bullied by the other kids and even the teachers.His father, George Clayton Tennyson, was a clergyman and rector, who was notoriously absentminded and suffered from depression.
